ALISON ANTROBUS TO LEAD REDESIGN OF LUXE OCEAN HOUSE PROJECT

Exclusive beachfront property to capture resort lifestyle in trendy South of Fifth neighborhood

Alison Antrobus, principal of Miami-based Antrobus Design Co., has been appointed the lead designer for Ocean House, a luxury beachfront property in South Beach’s trendy South of Fifth neighborhood. A veteran designer of the area, Antrobus has provided the vision behind several of the neighborhood’s penthouse hideaways and fashionable restaurants including Prime 112, Prime Italian and Prime Hotel, among others. With experience rooted in all aspects of interior design, architecture, sculpture, painting and fashion design, Antrobus will visually and experientially transform Ocean House into a warm and sophisticated environment reflective of its unique location.

“In this real estate market of multi-residential buildings, we as a community are moving away from the warmth of neighborhoods and our connection to nature as homes grow closer to the sky, away from backyards and gardens,” says Antrobus. “It is my intention to reclaim that sensibility and offer amenities that conjure the emotions of privacy, comfort and relaxation associated with that feeling of ‘arriving home.’’’

The announcement comes after iStar Residential unveiled plans for a multi-million dollar redesign of the interiors and common areas of the property, incorporating protected historic structures and a new seven-story beachfront residential condo with modern and sophisticated design elements. Featuring fewer than 30 private residences within two historic towers and a newly constructed seven-story condo, Ocean House will capture intimate, resort-like living, and capitalizes on its unparalleled location with 18 beachfront homes, including several penthouses exceeding 6,000 square feet. Completion is projected for spring 2012.

Antrobus’ vision will convert the atmosphere of the public spaces of Ocean House from a multi-residential property into that of a private beachfront home. She states, “My concept was to take the program of a luxury residence and apply it to the common areas of the building; for example, make the pool deck feel like a pool within a garden, and make the lobby feel like a living room.” Ocean House will feature a living room with a cascading staircase, library, billiard room, screening room, and a wine room; each of which will be infused with a sense of history through the use of an eclectic array of furnishings and finishes, and will be set against a neutral color palette of twilight- and ocean-inspired greens and grey blues. Historic elements of the façade and the terrazzo floor of the original lobby will be preserved in a nod to the former Villa Luisa, formerly known as the Walburne Hotel, built in 1946.

Ocean House’s outdoor living environments will be transformed into private gardens and courtyards with the use of lush tropical foliage. While large hedges along the south, west and north will provide a sense of intimacy and exclusivity from neighbors, an ocean deck featuring an infinity pool, elevated pool cabanas, plush sun beds and entertainment grounds, including a gourmet outdoor kitchen, will boast panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and South Beach’s sands (mention the gourmet outdoor kitchen).

The property will feature world-class amenities, exclusive services and perks that offer residents a resort-like experience in a gracious, residential setting. Features include a private beach club, state-of-the-art gym and spa facilities, beachfront pool with sunning beds and private cabanas and richly appointed entertainment areas, as well as 24-hour security, butler and valet services. Ocean House residents will also enjoy preferred access to local businesses including renowned restaurants, salons, child and pet care, among others, to provide residents with personalized on-demand benefits.
